How it works
IGO provides members with the convenience of using a car without the hassles and expenses of owning one. Members have 24-hour access to a fleet of IGO vehicles in reserved parking spaces all over Chicago and in four suburbs. We cover the gas, premium insurance, vehicle maintenance, and 24/7/365 assistance.
Unlike carpooling, carsharing gives you sole control over the car during your reservation. Unlike car rental, you pick up and drop off your car from a location in your neighborhood. You can reserve a vehicle for an hour or as long as you need it (up to three days), but the best and most cost-effective trips are those that are short in time and distance.
It’s super simple to get started. You’re just three easy steps from driving your IGO car:
You’ve got some optons. You’ll shoose one of four affordable rate plans and either a standard IGO membership or dual IGO/CTA account, complete with your very own Chicago Card Plus IGO Card. We also offer three plans for businesses (if you’re into that sort of thing). We’ll review it and get back to you ASAP.
Once your application is approved, you’ll receive your smart card or access tag along with your new IGO membership info. You’ll be able to log in with your IGO member number at www.igocars.org to search for available cars (or call us 24/7 to schedule your next trip). Whatever works for you.
When you receive your member materials, you’re ready to go! Access your reserved vehicle with an IGO access tag or Chicago Card Plus IGO Card. Hold it over the windshield sensor to unlock the doors. The ignition key is in the electronic keypad inside the glovebox, and you’re ready to go!
You can also use your online account to manage reservation, track your usage, receive important messages, give us feedback, sync reservations with your Google calendar and sign up for text reservation reminders. Or not. Totally up to you.
The ignition key is in the electronic keypad inside the glovebox. Take the ignition key with you when you exit the car during your trip to lock and unlock doors. Return the car to its spot, replace the key, and hold your tag or card over the sensor to lock the doors and end your trip.
