CTA & IGO Smart Card

The Chicago Card Plus IGO is a smart card that allows IGO members to access CTA trains and buses, Pace buses, and IGO vehicles throughout the city and suburbs. It makes it a snap to transition from one mode of travel to another!

Chicago Card Plus IGO cardholders have two separate accounts—one with the CTA through which they manage their transit fare choices, and one with IGO through which they reserve IGO vehicles and manage their IGO account. We do not have access to your CTA account and the CTA does not have access to your IGO account.

IGO developed this innovative card in partnership with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) and with the support of the Boeing Company. It’s the nation’s first joint smart card between a public transit agency and a carsharing service.

How to Get the Chicago Card Plus IGO Smart Card

If you’re just signing up for a new IGO account and you’d like to get a Chicago Card Plus IGO, just fill out the new membership application found here . You’ll receive your card once your application has been approved.

If you’re already an IGO member, follow these simple steps to replace your current IGO smart card with the Chicago Card Plus IGO:

  1. Login to your IGO account and make sure your personal contact and credit card information is up-to-date, then go to this registration form and fill it out.
  2. You’ll receive your new Chicago Card Plus IGO within three to five business days. There will be a one-time $15 charge to cover the cost of your new card.
  3. Once you receive your new Chicago Card Plus IGO, please mail your old card back to us at: IGO CarSharing, Attn: Smart Card Recycling, 2125 W. North Ave., Chicago, IL 60647. Reusing smart cards for new members helps us fulfill our commitment to sustainability.
