Chicago Card Plus IGO Card FAQs
The Chicago Card Plus IGO Card is accepted for full fare payment on all CTA rail and bus routes and Pace buses. Simply touch the card to the touchpad on the front of rail station turnstiles and bus fare boxes on all CTA and Pace buses. The Chicago Card Plus IGO Card is currently not accepted on Metra.
The Chicago Card Plus IGO Card can be used by IGO members to access any of the vehicles IGO has throughout the metropolitan Chicago area, including along many CTA lines. To access your Chicago Card Plus account, go to www.chicago-card.com and log in with your user name and password.
To access your IGO account and vehicle reservation system, enter your IGO member number and password at www.igocars.org. Choose “My Account” at the top of the page to view and manage your IGO account.
How to Get a Chicago Card Plus IGO Card
By completing the individual Chicago Card Plus IGO membership application form, it’s possible to initiate your accounts for both IGO and the CTA with one form.
The application form includes a “CTA Registration” section where you set up your Chicago Card account and select either the Pay-Per-Use or 30-Day Pass preference and create a card PIN that you’ll use when logging into your CTA account on the www.chicago-card.com website. You’ll also be able to set a password and PIN for your IGO account on this form.
The form also includes a “CTA E-Mail Preferences” section that allows you to request or decline emails related to credit card status notifications, market research and updates on CTA travel information or service changes.
Complete the Chicago Card Plus IGO membership application form to apply for the Chicago Card Plus IGO Card. Once approved, you can cancel your existing Chicago Card Plus by visiting www.chicago-card.com, logging in to your CTA account, clicking on the “Cancel Account” link, and following the prompts. You can also call 1-888-YOUR-CTA (1-888-968-7282) Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Once you cancel your Chicago Card Plus card, the remaining value on the Chicago Card Plus card cannot be transferred to your new Chicago Card Plus IGO Card but will continue to be available for transportation on CTA or Pace. When the balance reaches $0, the CTA will permanently disable your card. You are responsible for all rides taken using your Chicago Card Plus even if it has been cancelled.
You will be charged a one-time, non-refundable IGO application fee of $25 and a first-year membership cost of $50. You must also set an initial balance for either the CTA’s pay-per-use or 30-Day Pass account that you establish as part of the application process.

If your card is lost, stolen or damaged you should log on to your account at www.chicago-card.com and click on “Replace Card”. Or you may contact CTA Customer Service at 1-888-YOUR-CTA (1-888-968-7282), Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Once you notify the CTA that your Chicago Card Plus IGO Card is lost, stolen or damaged, it will be canceled immediately so that it will no longer work. You will be charged a non-refundable $20 replacement fee to obtain a new Chicago Card Plus IGO Card. Your new card will include the value remaining in your account at the time you properly reported it lost, stolen or damaged.
You must provide CTA Customer Service with the personal identification number (PIN) for your Chicago Card account in order to get it replaced. CTA will mail a replacement card within 5 – 7 business days of notice to the CTA that the Chicago Card Plus IGO Card was lost, stolen or damaged. If your Chicago Card Plus IGO Card operates as a 30-Day Pass and is lost, stolen or damaged, the timing of the 30-day cycle cannot be reset.
If you elect to replace your card in person at CTA’s Sales Center, the Chicago Card portion of your card will work immediately. There may be a delay of up to 24 hours, however, before you will be able to access your IGO vehicle.
Also, never print or place a label with your IGO member number or password on the card. If the card is lost or stolen, others could make reservations on your account and you could incur and be liable for driving charges.
You may cancel your CTA account at any time by going online at www.chicago-card.com or by calling CTA Customer Service at 1-888-YOUR-CTA (1-888-968-7282).
To cancel your IGO account please email IGO Member Experience at email@example.com. Please note that your IGO account will remain active even if your CTA account is canceled. You must contact IGO directly to cancel your IGO account.
